Rachel + Alvin’s Wedding day started off really early on a Sunday morning. I arrived at Salish Lodge around 7 am to start photographing. By the time Rachel and Alvin were ready, already there were a few visitors arriving to see the majestic falls and our plan was to start photographing at the viewpoints before they arrived so we could have it all to ourselves. It worked mostly and we had a pretty clear time without me having to ask visitors to stay back a little bit while I’m photographing the couple. The 9 am ceremony was fantastic and the cold brisk morning air started warming up as the brunch reception began. After the reception, the true adventure began as we headed down to the bottom of the Falls. There was no way we could get to the falls without being parkour legends and especially with Rachel wearing her beautiful wedding gown. After photos around the river, and thinking that we wouldn’t get those epic shots at the bottom of the Falls, Alvin found teenage boy with a raft and managed to convince him to row both Rachel + Alvin to the other side of the river where we could hike to the Falls, and also to return and pick me and Wayne up as well. I think Alvin had help convincing the boy with a dead president or two. We couldn’t believe our luck and it was truly special photographing them at the Falls, knowing that it wasn’t an easy task to get there. When we returned, there was no boy and raft so we had to cross the river by foot. Wayne and I and our photography gear was the hardest part and although we picked the deepest area to go through (almost waist deep), we were lucky to not get any of our equipment wet. Alvin and Rachel, whew! I felt like we conquered the day:). Thanks so much for sharing an adventure with us and congratulations to you both!
